Southampton boss Ronald Koeman gives injury and transfer updates

Ronald Koeman has positive news for Southampton regarding the injuries and the January transfer window.

Southampton manager Ronald Koeman has confirmed that James Ward-Prowse is back in training.

The 20-year-old midfielder had been out since September with a fractured foot, but the youngster is now available for competition action.

Koeman has suggested that he is not going to throw Ward-Prowse right back into the action, although the England Under-21 international will be part of the squad for upcoming matches against Burnley (Premier League) and Sheffield United (League Cup quarter-finals).

Koeman has also revealed that defender Toby Alderweireld is back in training and will feature on Saturday, while Morgan Schneiderlin will be fit for Tuesday’s game against the Blades.

Southampton boss Koeman has revealed that he plans to sign two players in the January transfer window.

Southampton are currently fifth in the Premier League table with 26 points from 15 matches, just a point behind fourth-placed West Ham United.
