Before his debut against Chelsea, Queens Park Rangers were one of several reportedly interested parties.

It seems Jak Alnwick's Newcastle United debut did more than just boost his reputation - and perhaps create one in the first place for the many who hadn't previously heard of him.

According to reports, the 21-year-old's whole career path may have been changed by it.

That's not for certain, of course, as Alnwick is still out of contract at the end of the season and could easily still leave Newcastle.

But the Magpies may now think twice before letting the young goalkeeper go.

Indeed, according to the Newcastle Evening Chronicle, QPR were one of several interested parties in Alnwick before his Newcastle debut. QPR had invited him to train with the west London side, while there was also reported interest from the Championship.

Could his moment in the spotlight have changed his transfer status, though? If he can reproduce that kind of form against Arsenal at the weekend and beyond, the St James' Park outfit may consider his talent too great to let go.

QPR, meanwhile, already have Rob Green and Alex McCarthy in the goalkeeping department. Although Alnwick does look like one for the future...
