Bayer Leverkusen and Borussia Dortmund have reportedly joined the race to sign Tottenham defender Vlad Chiriches.
With Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino unable to settle on a consistent centre back pairing, changes are widely expected in the January transfer window.
Belgian international Jan Vertonghen has been strongly linked with an exit to either Liverpool or Manchester United, whilst the likes of Hector Moreno and Raul Albiol are believed to be targets for Pochettino in the New Year.
Yet the situation with Romanian international centre back Vlad Chiriches is one which has fluctuated a number of teams this season.
The 25-year-old joined Spurs back in 2013, but failed to impress in 2013, and started this season out of favour too, triggering interest from a number of clubs.
However, Chiriches has been restored to the line-up in recent weeks, playing in an unfamiliar role at right back - and enjoying some success there, too.
Still, speculation continues to link Chiriches with an exit, and whilst Roma have been leading the chase, Sky Italia say that he could now be on his way to Germany instead.
Bayer Leverkusen and Borussia Dortmund are being touted as possible destinations for Chiriches in January, but Spurs are reportedly only willing to loan him out for the rest of the season before assessing his situation again next summer.
It seems that Chiriches may be allowed to leave the club next month, but only if Pochettino is able to bring in a replacement, which could well be Albiol or Moreno if speculation is to be believed.
