Manchester United legend Gary Neville believes that Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is still searching for his best team.
“I don’t think that he (Rodgers) has lost faith in the new signings,” he told Sky Sports. “I think at the moment Brendan Rodgers is searching for his best team.
"I think he is searching to get the balance right between the players from last season and the new signings.”
Many Liverpool fans and neutrals would agree with Neville’s assessment, and one needs to admit that Rodgers’s task of choosing his best starting line-up has been hampered by the injuries.
With star striker Daniel Sturridge injured since September and £16 million summer signing Mario Balotelli also on the sidelines, Rodgers has had to juggle his team in attack more than he would have liked to.
With Liverpool’s summer signings also struggling and showing inconsistency, it has been a problem for Rodgers to settle on his best xi week in and week out.
Perhaps when all the players are fully fit, it will be easier for the Liverpool manager to pick his best team.
