Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has been singing the praises of Jesse Lingard.
The 21-year-old has been on the books of United since 2009 and is rated very highly by the club’s officials.
The England Under-21 international has been struggling with injuries this season, but he has now fully recovered.
Van Gaal is pleased with the recovery of Lingard and told MUTV: “He’s come back unbelievably quickly because we thought it would take longer.
“I’m very pleased with him. But I don’t want to say too much about the injured players, because we have a squad which has to solve that [selection] problem.”
Lingard is unlikely to be used too much by Van Gaal in the coming weeks, but his talent and quality means that he remains an important player in the United squad.
Van Gaal has shown this season that he is ready to put his faith in young players, and if Lingard continues to impress in training, then he is certainly going to get more chances as the season progresses.
