A round up of news stories this morning about Liverpool.
Gary Neville has suggested that Liverpool need to splash the cash and spend big.
Neville made the claim when assessing how the Reds could win the Champions League for Sky Sports.
“Big is going to sign a player for £80m. He hasn’t gone big; he’s touched the sides a little bit. The net spend is £40m, and I don’t see that as big net spend for Liverpool Football Club,” said Neville.
Former Liverpool player Steve Nicol says Brendan Rodgers is in danger of being sacked.
Liverpool’s exit from the group stage of the Champions League earlier this week capped a predominantly disappointing first half of the season so far.
“If things don’t change then ultimately Brendan will pay the price. If this team keeps performing the way they are, I don’t think they’ll have another option,” said Nicol.
Rodgers has been defiant in the face of criticism this week and insists the side will fight back.
Liverpool have dropped into the Europa League for the rest of the season but the boss says the aim is to get back into the Champions League for the next campaign.
“We are bitterly disappointed and we will fight very hard to make sure we are back in it next year,” said Rodgers.
