Injured Vincent Kompany hails Manchester City on Twitter after Roma win

The Belgian defender was clearly proud of his team's efforts.

Once again it looked as though the Champions League was to prove a step to far for Manchester City this season. The club have poured money into the battle for domestic supremacy and succeeded however that is not the case in Europe, where they have so far failed to make an impact.

When they trailed Bayern Munich late in the day at The Etihad it looked like it was all over, That was until resident Manchester City hero Sergio Aguero rocked up to save the day once again.

They therefore needed a result against Roma in the Italian capital last night to proceed, and succeed they did.

Goals from Samir Nasri and Pablo Zabaleta proved enough to defeat the Giallorossi, who paid the price for their negative approach to a game they only needed to draw 0-0 to qualify.

The fact they did it without captain Vincent Kompany is a true credit to the character of City last night. Martin Demichelis and Eliaquim Mangala were excellent in defence and Kompany showed his pride in his teams performance on Twitter today...
