The best of the German press reaction to Lukas Podolski's triumphant return to goalscoring form.
Lukas Podolski made his first Champions League start of the season in midweek against Galatasaray, and he responded by scoring two goals.
He wasted little time, blasting the ball home after three minutes to open the scoring before adding a second late on in the 4-1 win.
A popular figure in his homeland, Podolski's exploits were not unnoticed in Germany, with tabloid BILD describing, "Goal explosion from our World Champion!"
There were mixed views on what his brace meant from the rest of the media, with newspaper Die Welt unconvinced his double actually means anything for him going forward.
They wrote: "Despite his brace Podolski seems to Arsène Wenger only to be second choice. For while the Welshman Ramsey came off at half-time at 3: 0 to Arsenal to be spared for the important game on Saturday against Newcastle United, the German played on. A sign from the coach that the striker will probably at the weekend be again only on the bench, if at all. Wenger no longer seems to rely on Podolski."
On Zelalem, they added: "While Podolski is no longer first choice at Arsenal, another German makes positive headlines. The 17-year old Berliner came to the first team, with his Champions League debut."
"The grand appearance in Istanbul does not change the fact that Podolski has to change clubs. Also, because of strong competition, he is far down in Wenger's favour. On Tuesday, he was allowed to play from the beginning because, among others, Alexis Sanchez, Danny Welbeck, Theo Walcott, Olivier Giroud, Mesut Özil and Santi Cazorla were not there."
Another outlet disagreed, with FOCUS Online arguing that Podolski's two goal display proves he can be vital for Arsenal, and why he will not be allowed to leave:
"For coach Wenger, Podolski goals are a good reason to use him in the knockout stages of the Champions League. A sale in the winter anyway, as discussed recently, is likely to have now gone."
A lot will depend on which role Arsene Wenger uses him in at the weekend, but he has done himself no harm at all, to potential buyers, or if he wants to stay.
