Chelsea cruised to victory over Sporting Lisbon in the Champions League, continuing their all-round impressive start to the season.
This win was vital as it followed their only loss so far, having been downed by Newcastle United at the weekend.
There were no such issues at Stamford Bridge, with goals from Jon Obi Mikel, Andre Schurrle and a Cesc Fabregas penalty seeing out a 3-1 win.
At the other end, just a goal from the impressive Jonathan Silva stopped Chelsea getting a clean sheet.
|Match||Won Tackles||Interceptions||Aerial Duels Won||Accurate Crosses||Shots Blocked||Assists||Goals||Total||Mins Played|
|Filipe Luis||Chelsea vs Sporting||3||3||2||0||0||0||0||8||90|
|César Azpilicueta||Chelsea vs Sporting||2||2||1||1||1||0||0||7||90|
|Gary Cahill||Chelsea vs Sporting||1||0||1||0||2||1||0||5||90|
|Kurt Zouma||Chelsea vs Sporting||1||0||0||0||0||0||0||1||90|
Taking a number of key attributes and assessing the defenders by adding up those of each individual, Filipe Luis comes out ranked as Chelsea's best defender on the night.
He made three interceptions which was more than the rest of the defence combined. His three tackles was only edged by Azpilicueta, Cahill and Zouma in unison, who made four.
Luis was making his 50th Champions League appearance, and his two aerial duels won also compared well with his fellow defenders. They made just two between them.
The Brazilian has had a slow, if successful, start to his Chelsea career, and more performances like this will give him a chance of earning more starts for Jose Mourinho's side.
