Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has revealed that defender Laurent Koscielny will not be available for the Premier League clash against Newcastle United on Saturday.
The France international picked up a calf injury against Southampton last weekend and is likely to sit out of the encounter at the Emirates Stadium.
“Our main problems are still defensively because Laurent Koscielny (calf from Southampton match) looks like he will not be quite ready, Nacho Monreal (foot) is not back and Calum Chambers is suspended,” Wenger told Arsenal’s official website.
Midfielder Mikel Arteta is still struggling with a calf injury, while Aaron Ramsey will undergo tests today on his hamstring problem.
Forward Theo Walcott is still sidelined with a groin problem, with Wenger explaining: “The signs are quite good. He has had two days of training now but he now lacks competition and fitness to come back to a good level.”
Arsenal are currently sixth in the Premier League table with 23 points from 15 matches, four points behind fourth-placed West Ham United.
