Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti laughed as he was asked a question about his interest in £20 million Tottenham Hotspur linked midfielder Christoph Kramer.
The German World Cup winner has been strongly linked with a move to White Hart Lane, but Real Madrid are a club in a strong position to spoil the party if the Italian decides he wants him this winter or this summer.
However, he played down Real’s interest in a joking manner when asked about him by Spanish newspaper AS.
“I can’t speak about players who aren’t at Madrid and all I will say is (laughs) is that he’s a player I like a lot. I like a lot of midfielders,” said Ancelotti.
Kramer, on loan at Borussia Monchengladbach, looks like he could become one of the next Bundesliga players to secure a high profile move away from Germany.
Real are well placed but a potential problem is the legitimacy of their interest and the slim chance that he’d get a lot of game time at the Bernabeu.
Ancelotti may have laughed because he’s fatigued with questions about the club’s interest or he may have laughed because of the strong chance Real have of snapping up an extremely talented player.
Spurs aren’t short of central midfield options while Real look likely to lose Sami Khedira, with Lucas Silva also tipped to come into the club.
It’s not the first time Ancelotti’s been asked about Kramer and it’s unlikely to be the last.
