United morning news: Strootman booed by own fans; youngster's award nomination

A select round-up of the latest news relating to Manchester United

Those Kevin Strootman to Manchester United rumours continue apace with a number of media outlets jumping the gun and suggesting a January move has already been agreed.

It appears it is no longer enough to suggest that United are interested in the Roma midfielder, but that manager Louis van Gaal has pretty much got his man with 21 days until the winter transfer window officially opens.

All those claims need to be taken a hefty pinch of salt, but there is one interesting line to come out of a report from the Telegraph.

The newspaper claims the alleged United target has been booed by his fans in recent weeks, reportedly due to Strootman’s failure to play down the links.

The jeers also reportedly were prompted by his part in CSKA’s recent goal against the Italian side in the Champions League.

In other news, United defender Tyler Blackett has been nominated for the England under-21 Player of the Year award.

The FA’s official website reports that the young United defender – who broke into the first-team at the start of the season – is up for the award after making his debut for the Three Lions under-21s in 2014.
