Press in Napoli have heavily criticised Raul Albiol's recent displays.
Things are threatening to turn quite sour for Rafael Benitez at Napoli.
The Spaniard replaced Walter Mazzarri in 2013, and last season's third place finish saw them qualify for this season's Champions League, but they were dumped out in the qualifying rounds by Athletic Bilbao.
That heaped the pressure on Benitez, and whilst he has side in fifth place in the Serie A table so far this season, they have simply drawn too many games, and with his contract expiring in the summer, some have linked Benitez with a return to former club Liverpool in 2015.
Sunday's 2-2 draw with Empoli was another disappointing draw, and now the Italian press have set about finding a reason for their struggles - and the man in the firing line is Raul Albiol.
The former Real Madrid defender has recently been linked with a January move to Tottenham Hotspur, and Napoli could well be willing to sell the Spanish international if the press criticism he has received is matched by Benitez.
Il Mattino states that the poor form of Albiol - without compatriot Pepe Reina, they note - means that Benitez could be ready to sell Albiol after a number of shaky displays in defence.
Napoli have leaked 18 goals this season, which is by far the most of any of the top five clubs in Serie A, and Albiol is being blamed for their porous back line.
With Albiol seemingly on the chopping block, Spurs could now be in a great position to land the 29-year-old, whose time in Italy is turning even uglier than Benitez's.
