Tottenham's Emmanuel Adebayor given permission to travel home for personal reasons

Tottenham Hotspur player Emmanuel Adebayor has been allowed to travel home to Togo.

Tottenham Hotspur have announced that striker Emmanuel Adebayor has been given permission to travel home due to personal reasons.

The club made the announcement on their official Twitter account on Wednesday morning and gave no further details due to the personal nature of the issue.

The full statement read: “We can confirm that Emmanuel Adebayor has been given permission to return home for personal reasons. This is a private matter and so we will not be providing any further comment.”

The 30-year-old Tottenham striker has made 12 appearances for the club this season, scoring two goals and providing one assist in that time. But he has not been involved in any of the last six matches.

Tottenham’s next match is the encounter with Swansea City on Sunday but it appears they will have to do without a player who is now reportedly on his way back to Togo.
