Twitter have announced 2014's most popular tweets and talked about subjects.
In the latest blog post from Twitter, they have taken a look at some of the most talked about, and tweeted, topics of the past year.
Over 500 million tweets are sent per day according to Twitter, and taking a look back over 2014 they have identified the most discussed topics of the year, including the World Cup in Brazil, the #BringBackOurGirls campaign in response to the kidnapping in Nigeria, the Hong Kong protests and more.
The World Cup created over 672 million tweets in the month the tournament was held, with a huge 618,725 tweets per minute at its peak, making it the largest tweet peak measured of the year And the Scottish independence referendum brought in 3.75 million tweets from the first debate through to polling day.
The stats make it clear, if there is something going on in the world, it will definitely be tweeted about on Twitter.
