Luc Castaignos is not on the Mapgies' radar, according to reports.

Newcastle United will not be bidding for FC Twente striker Luc Castaignos in January, according to the Newcastle Evening Chronicle.

The Magpies are believes to be prioritising other targets over the 22-year-old, while the success of their current strikers is also dissuading them from putting their faith in the Dutchman.

Siem de Jong will return from injury soon, too, and Alan Pardew reportedly wants to give him every chance of settling in without the pressure of new signings.

Meanwhile, Castaignos, who almost joined Swansea City in the summer after the Welsh club had a £6.5 million bid accepted, is said to be a target for Derby.

From HITC Sport yesterday: 'Derby County head coach Steve McClaren has been spotted in Holland following FC Twente striker Luc Castaignos.

'According to the Sun, as quoted in the Derby Telegraph, Derby are planning an ambitious January move for first-choice transfer target Castaignos but are also keeping an eye on CSKA Moscow striker Tomas Necid, who is on loan at PEC Zwolle.'
