On the 10th December 2013 what were the stories that dominated the football landscape? Including Arsenal and Manchester United.

Let's cast our eyes back to this exact day, the 10th December 2014, but a year earlier.

What were the main tales from that day? What big events were happening in Premier League football?

Here are some of the big scoops from the 10th December 2013…

A year ago today and Arsenal were gearing up for a tough test against Napoli in the Champions League. Arsenal's task was seemingly simple - avoid a three goal defeat in Italy and they were on their way to the last 16, avoid defeat and they would finish above Borussia Dortmund as group winners.

For Wenger, there was no doubt who the danger man was for the Serie A side - Argentine striker Gonzalo Higuain. He had tried to sign the striker the previous summer, before deciding he fancied trying out for Luis Suarez instead.

He said of facing the Argentine:

"We can't afford to do anything [regarding rotation]. I rotate a little bit sometimes [but] never more than two or three because stability is important. We'll have to keep [Gonzalo] Higuaín quiet he is very dangerous and the more we can play outside of our box, the easier that will be. We have to be at our best. An average performance will not be good enough."

In the end Napoli pushed Arsenal all the way, nearly winning by the three goals necessary with Jose Callejon and, you guessed it, Gonzalo Higuain on target.

Strootman happy

A year ago today and the agent of Kevin Strootman was discussing links with Manchester United. David Moyes, like his predecessor Sir Alex Ferguson, was a firm believer in the talents of the Dutchman.

Chiel Dekker commented:

"Kevin is very happy in Rome and his intention is to stay here for a long time. They have started a project and a new team and he has adapted well to his new club."

Nowadays, with Louis van Gaal as Manchester United coach, the rumours have intensified further. As for Dekker, he is no longer Strootman's agent.
