Manchester City morning news: Pellegrini confident, Dzeko on replacing Aguero

A round up of news stories this morning about Manchester City.

Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini feels the form of his side is good enough for them to progress in the Champions League.

City have put together some impressive recent performances in the Premier League and came from behind to beat Bayern Munich.

“I have just asked the players to continue playing the way they are playing now. I think that is the best way to try and qualify,” said the boss.

City striker Edin Dzeko is determined to fill the void created by Sergio Aguero this evening.

Aguero is out of action with an injury, which means Dzeko is likely to be named as the main striker.

“I'm there when the team needs me and I'm happy to be back. It was a bit hard for me but now I'm back and I'll do my best to try and score the goals,” he told SSN.

Manchester City winger Jesus Navas has insisted that the team can challenge for the Champions League title.

City go into the game against Roma this evening under pressure to win and finish second in their group behind Bayern Munich.

“If we can get the result we need in Italy then it can certainly be a springboard to further European success,” he told Sky Sports News.
