Barton's treatment by Marseille supporters might just have made his mind up about moving back to Queens Park Rangers.
Not sure what's more offensive, the grammar or the intent? pic.twitter.com/NOt0hrALL6— Joseph Barton (@Joey7Barton) December 10, 2014
Joey Barton has always been a divisive character.
Abuse from supporters, then, is something he will have learned to deal with.
Like today, for instance, the QPR midfielder took to Twitter to expose some of the 'fan mail' he received during his time at Marseille.
He laughed about it on social media but there is no doubting it could have played a part in Barton's decision to end his loan move in Ligue 1 for a QPR comeback.
The 32-year-old looked like he was set to return to west London, anyway, as the club wanted him back and Marseille never appeared confident enough of taking him on permanently, despite his seeming preference to stay in France at the time.
Since returning to Loftus Road, Barton has starred for Harry Redknapp's side and the midfielder has certainly been one of the R's' standout players so far this campaign.
But, with treatment like this from supporters, perhaps Barton was persuaded to grasp a QPR return with both hands...
Found some old 'fan mail'. Amazing what some people consider 'A little friendly advice' these days...? pic.twitter.com/MheWN8xvaW— Joseph Barton (@Joey7Barton) December 10, 2014
