Former Manchester United man Vidic’s Inter exit looks increasingly likely

Nemanja Vidic's spell at Inter could be headed for an abrupt end in January, according to reports in Italy.

Serbian international Nemanja Vidic could quit Inter after just five months having failed to settle since arriving in the summer.

Vidic was regarded as a hero by most Manchester United fans, but he chose to find a new challenge when his contract expired at Old Trafford.

Inter believed they had pulled off a major transfer coup when they landed Vidic, but he has looked a shadow of his former self at San Siro.

Having struggled to adapt to a three-man defence under Walter Mazzarri, Vidic may have hoped that the arrival of new boss Roberto Mancini would signal a change of fortunes.

But, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Vidic's position is no stronger under Mancini and he is having to consider cutting his losses.

Vidic expected to be the first name of the team sheet at Inter, but he is facing the possibility of significant time on the bench and that may force his hand into seeking a January switch.

It has been suggested that Vidic could even try and return to Manchester United, but there are likely to be several other suitors who remember his past achievements rather than his current woes.
