Neil Redfearn has plenty to mull over and ask himself ahead of the match at home against Fulham this weekend.
The boss has had to deal with various issues, some related to his team and some not, since he took the head coach role at the club but he’s always maintained the emphasis is on driving the side forward and getting results.
Here are five mid-week talking points for the Leeds boss.
The defence conceded four goals against Ipswich last time out, which is something Redfearn will want to sure up. It’s important for Leeds to keep clean sheets against all sides as they look to push up the Championship table.
The boss will be annoyed that his players have been very inconsistent this season. It makes it difficult for Redfearn to try and build momentum and confidence around the team when the results bounce up and down like a yoyo.
Reports this morning have suggested what some Leeds fans have suspected for most of this season; a transfer ban covering January. Leeds are set to announce huge losses, which will have an impact on Redfearn’s ability to attract new players.
As a result the boss will draw on arguably his greatest resource; Leeds’ famous academy. There are plenty of younger players all waiting for a chance in his first team, with Luke Parkin the latest to score important goals for the under-21s as he tries to get Redfearn’s attention.
One of the biggest challenges throughout the week for Redfearn is how he stops heads from dropping in training. Leeds are working hard towards trying to climb places and results like the one at Ipswich are damaging to morale. Redfearn has to work out how to keep everyone motivated.
