Emmanuel Frimpong: I feel sorry for Arsenal star Lukas Podolski

Lukas Podolski Pre FA Cup Press Conference

Former Arsenal midfielder Emmanuel Frimpong said he feels for Lukas Podolski despite his two goal showing.

If Lukas Podolski wanted to make a point to Arsene Wenger, he went about it the right way.

The German international scored an impressive brace against Galatasaray, including a thumping strike as early as the third minute.

His goals seemed like an outpouring of frustration, having spent nearly the entire season on the bench.

Incredibly, it was the first Champions League or Premier League game Podolski had started all season.

Former Gunner Emmanuel Frimpong said on Twitter after the game, that he sympathised with the German.

Podolski had made a vital contribution to Arsenal's Champions League campaign earlier in the season, netting the winner against Anderlecht, but continued to be overlooked subsequently.

This had led to heavy speculation he would leave the club in January, but this two-goal display could hand him a lifeline if Arsene Wenger is convinced.

SkySports pundit Niall Quinn said after the Galatasaray game that Arsene Wenger should start the German this weekend against Newcastle, but considering the Frenchman did not take him off to rest him late on, there is a strong chance Podolski remains on the bench once again.
