A select round-up of the latest news relating to Manchester United

There could be a blow for Manchester United in their reported pursuit of Borussia Dortmund player Marco Reus.

German newspaper Bild reports that the player started learning Spanish three weeks ago, with the suggestion being that he is on his way to La Liga with both Real Madrid and Barcelona said to be admirers.

That said, he could always be brushing up so he can communicate with United’s Spanish trio of Ander Herrera, Juan Mata and David de Gea!

In other news, United manager Louis van Gaal has been talking about why he took off Paddy McNair against Southampton on Monday evening.

United won the match 2-1 despite the Saints having the better of the encounter, and in comments published by the Belfast Telegraph, the Dutchman revealed his thinking behind the teenager’s removal.

“He had no confidence and had already given three big chances away,” van Gaal said of McNair.

“It’s very disappointing for me and Paddy but I had to take him off.”
