Leeds United defender Stephen Warnock is excited about the FA Cup.
The Whites have been drawn against Sunderland away from home in the third round of the competition, and the left-back is hoping for an ‘upset’.
Looking forward to the FA Cup draw...who will be drawn again ball 21?! Love playing in the FA Cup, hoping for a good cup run this season.— Stephen Warnock (@StephenWarnock3) December 8, 2014
Sunderland away...a repeat of the 1973 final which didn't go Leeds' way. Let's hope for an upset the other way this time! #bbcfacup— Stephen Warnock (@StephenWarnock3) December 8, 2014
The tie will be played in the first week of January and things could change for both teams between now and then, but Leeds can certainly stage an ‘upset’.
Expected by many to challenge for a playoff spot in the Championship this season, the West Yorkshire are struggling in 16th and are just five points above the relegation zone.
Meanwhile, Sunderland are 14th in the Premier League standings with 15 points from as many games, just two points above the bottom three.
Leeds have every chance of winning at the Stadium of Light. The Black Cats narrowly escaped relegation last season and look like they could be in a similar fight this term.
Sunderland may be in the Premier League, but player-for-player in the first team, they will be given a fight by Leeds.
