Three Chelsea teenagers who could feature in Champions League clash

Chelsea Stamford Bride

Should Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Jeremie Boga and Dominic Solanke feature against Sporting Lisbon on Wednesday night?

Jose Mourinho will have the perfect platform to blood some of his most talented young players into Champions League football on Wednesday night, but who is most likely to feature?

Chelsea sealed top spot in Group G with a 5-0 win away at Schalke in their last group game, allowing Mourinho the chance to see some of his highest-rated youngsters in a game that will see his side pitted against a desperate Sporting Lisbon.

Win, lose or draw, Chelsea are guaranteed top spot, while anything less than a win could put Sporting's qualification in doubt. Therefore, Mourinho could see how some of his relatively untested players handle themselves in a high pressure environment before perhaps given them the stage against Derby County next week in the Capital One Cup quarter-final.

The players:

Ruben Loftus-Cheek: The England youth international has been in inspired form in the past couple of months and with his senior debut still to come, the game against Sporting could offer the most ideal platform.

In the wake of Matic's injury, which ruled him out the game against Newcastle United, the 18-year-old could be allowed to showcase his ability, especially after John Obi Mikel failed to live up to expectations in his last appearance.

Jeremie Boga: The French Under-19 international is the current top goal-scorer for the Chelsea Under-21 side and, similar to Loftus-Cheek, has yet to make his senior debut for the Stamford Bridge club.

Although Chelsea are well stocked in the attacking midfield positions, it could prove to be the best opportunity for Mourinho to bed in the 17-year-old until next season. He is currently in the best form of his Chelsea career to date, netting five goals in his last nine appearances.

Dominic Solanke: After making his Champions League debut earlier in the campaign, it wouldn't be surprising if the powerful 17-year-old was to get another run out with nothing to lose.

The athletic attacker has an outstanding record so far this season, with five goals in 10 games, and has already been a surprise inclusion in a Champions League squad before. It would be another opportunity for the highly-rated talent to show just why he is held in such high regard.
