The German international took just three minutes to score v Galatasaray.
In recent times Arsenal forward Lukas Podolski really has been hogging the headlines slightly. The German World Cup winner has been complaining in the press about his lack of involvement in the Arsenal first-team this season.
He recently commented that he would not sit around like 'a clown' and wait for his contract to expire at The Emirates.
Indeed Arsene Wenger has used Podolski sparingly in recent months and rarely in his favoured central position.
But with Arsenal already through in the Champions League prior to their tie with Galatasaray in Turkey it gave Arsene Wenger the opportunity to rest plenty of first team stars for the game such as Alexis Sanchez and Danny Welbeck.
Podolski made up part of a front three along with fellow back up stars Yaya Sanogo and Joel Campbell. It certainly did not take him long to make an impact, as he blasted home a trademark left footed strike from out wide in the third minute.
Wenger, take notice.
