Out of favour Fiorentina playmaker Josip Ilicic has an offer on the table to move to Sampdoria.
The Slovenian international has been linked to Leeds United, while AC Milan and Aston Villa have also been touted as potential destinations.
The 26-year-old has made just five Serie A starts this season, and a new team has emerged in the race for his signature.
Italian newspaper La Nazione report Fiorentina and Sampdoria have agreed for Ilicic to move on loan in January, with a view to a €6 million permanent deal next summer.
It's yet to be finalised however, and Torino and Palermo are also showing interest. Palermo are of particular interest as they are Ilicic's former club.
The chances of Ilicic moving to England therefore look increasingly unlikely, with a number of attractive options on the table to remain in Italy.
Leeds' chances of signing him always seemed stronger when it was fellow Slovenian Darko Milanic at the helm, but an experienced playmaker of Ilicic's ilk would be just what they need to try and relieve the pressure on Adryan to perform week in and week out.
