Besiktas striker Demba Ba has reportedly been ruled out of the Turkish side’s upcoming Europa League match against Tottenham Hotspur.
According to Turkish website etikhaber.com the former Chelsea forward broke his toe in the recent match against Trabzonspor.
The club’s doctor Ertugrul Dark is quoted as saying, “He has a fracture but it could have been worse. We see it as the lesser evil.”
Ba has scored 16 goals in 18 appearances for Besiktas this season so his absence when Tottenham travel to Turkey will be a big boost for Mauricio Pochettino’s side.
Tottenham may have struggled at times in the Premier League but they have impressed in Europe and are currently top of Group C with 11 points.
Besiktas are second with nine points and having scored five goals in four Europa League matches to date Ba’s absence would be sizeable.
