Tottenham Hotspur have been drawn away at fellow Premier League side Burnley in the third round of the FA Cup, with the tie set to be played during the weekend of January 3 and 4.
The match will be the first time the two sides have met in the competition since February 1966 when Tottenham ran out 4-3 winners at White Hart Lane, with Burnley looking to make the fourth round for the first time since 2011, following three successive third round exits.
Mauricio Pochettino, meanwhile, will be aiming to take Spurs much further than Tim Sherwood managed last season, when the club were dumped out at the third round after a 2-0 defeat to Arsenal at the Emirates.
The 2012-13 campaign also saw them crash out sooner than anticipated after a 2-1 loss at Championship side Leeds United in the fourth round under Andre Villas-Boas, a season after Harry Redknapp’s outfit were thumped 5-1 by Chelsea in the semi-finals at Wembley.
Tottenham are in fact set to host Burnley in the league on December 20 ahead of the tie, with the following being a few of the reactions to the news of the draw.
