With the Premier League season nearing its halfway point now is a good time to consider which of Chelsea’s players have staked an early claim to be the Blues’ Player of the Season.

Serbian midfielder Nemanja Matic has been nothing short of sensational this season, even if his work often goes unnoticed.
Anyone who is unsure just how important the former Benfica player is, just consider the fact that Chelsea suffered their first defeat of the season when Matic was unavailable due to suspension.
There will be other contenders for the club’s Player of the Season but finishing above Matic will almost certainly see them crowned the winner.
It is like he has never been away, with Cesc Fabregas exquisite in the Chelsea midfield since his summer signing from Barcelona.
The Spanish international already has 15 assists in 20 appearances while he has also chipped in with two goals of his own.
As well as Diego Costa has played up front for Chelsea, Fabregas has been integral to the former Atletico Madrid star’s form.
Speaking of which, the third and final player on this list has to be Costa.
Chelsea were in desperate need of a quality front-man, with many tipping them to click once he was finally in place, and that has proved to be true with the 26-year-old netting 11 goals in 12 Premier League games to date.
Injuries remain an issue but if he can get back to full fitness just imagine how devastating he will be!
