No Cabella, Tiote or Gouffran - Is this Newcastle's best starting XI?

Cheick Tiote

If you were Alan Pardew and had to pick the Magpies' best starting XI right now...

In nine Premier League games, Newcastle United have only lost once. But, in so doing, Newcastle boss Alan Pardew has used a number of different players.

The Magpies coach is quite right to do so, of course, with the demands of the top flight calling upon every club to have as strong a squad as possible.

If Pardew had to select his very best XI players right now, however, who would he choose?

In goal, Tim Krul is a dead cert, although Jak Alnwick looked good enough to fill the void for both Krul and Rob Elliot while they are injured.

In front of the goalkeeper, Massadio Haidara, Fabricio Coloccini, Steven Taylor and Daryl Janmaat are surely Newcastle's strongest four.

Midfield is where things get difficult, though, with big names such as Cheick Tiote and Remy Cabella missing out. Mehdi Abeid, Jack Colback and Moussa Sissoko are undoubtedly the Magpies' in-form midfielders at the moment. If we factor in Sissoko's suspension, Tiote probably gets the nod.

Up front and out wide, Sammy Ameobi, Ayoze Perez and Papiss Cisse are playing superbly, meaning Yoan Gouffran misses out.
