Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata has been singing the praises of Espanyol captain Sergio Garcia.
The 31-year-old has been on the books of the Catalan outfit since 2010 and featured against his former club Barcelona in the derby on Sunday.
Espanyol took the lead at Camp Nou, but a hat-trick from Lionel Messi inspired Barcelona to an easy 5-1 victory in the La Liga clash.
Garcia gave a good account of himself against Barca and scored the opening goal, leading Mata to express his admiration of his compatriot.
“As for Barcelona, they had a tricky game against Espanyol, a side led by his captain Sergio Garcia,” the Spain international wrote on his blog.
“I really like this player: he contributes a lot to the team, not only with goals, he has good movements and is very good with both feet.
“However, his opening goal was not enough. Barcelona, inspired by Messi, won 5-1. They will be up there fighting for the title.”
Mata will be action tonight when United take on Southampton away from home in the Premier League.
