HITC's Sunday Screenshots: Tomb Raider

Tomb Raider Sunday Screenshot (26)

Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics' take on Lara Croft's origin story is the subject of our weekly look at the gorgeous world of video games.

Welcome to our look at the world of video game photography, well, screenshots at least. Here you're guaranteed to see some of the best the video game world has to offer in terms of pretty pixels.

Games don't always have to be the most graphically demanding in order to make them look great, but this week we are indeed looking at a game that scrubs up rather nicely, even on my not-so-great PC rig.

So, today we're looking at Tomb Raider, the 2013 reboot from Crystal Dynamics and Square Enix, to be precise. Like I said, this game is running on my PC, which isn't the most powerful, but the game still looks great. All the screenshots below are taken by me, and the ones that actually look good are probably taken during cutscenes, so not much credit to myself here. Heavy spoiler warning before you go ahead and look at the images, and just click on them to view larger versions.

Looking back over these shots, it reminds me of how much of a gruelling game this is; Lara really gets put through the mill. It's still great fun, and is an interesting take on how Lara became the steely-eyed adventurer we all know her to be. If you've looked at these screens and haven't played the game before, you've kind of spoilt it for yourself a little - but, we highly recommend you try Tomb Raider out. You'll be able to pick it up cheap on PC in one of Steam's sales - the next one being around Christmas, we'd wager. Plus the Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition is available on Xbox One and PS4.
