Gary Neville jokes about Manchester United’s line-up v Southampton

Old Trafford Santa run

Gary Neville jokes that Robin van Persie could be asked to play in defence for Manchester United against Southampton in the Premier League tonight.

Gary Neville has joked that Robin van Persie could start at left-back for Manchester United against Southampton tonight.

The Red Devils have been hit hard by injuries throughout the season so far, and that is one of the reasons why they are not in the Premier League title race.

Although the injury worries have eased a bit for United manager Louis van Gaal in recent weeks, the Dutchman still does not have a full squad available for tonight’s Premier League match at St. Mary’s Stadium.

Neville has now cracked a joke at the expense of his former team United.

United will head into tonight’s match placed fifth in the Premier League table with 25 points from 14 matches, a place and a point behind Southampton.
