Tottenham Hotspur have long been linked with a move for Jackson Martinez, but then, so have plenty of other clubs.
The Colombian international is a natural born goal-scorer who would add a new and incisive element to Tottenham’s forward-line and immediately make them a far more worrying proposition for the clubs they are trying to usurp.
More recently, it is Marseille’s Andre-Pierre Gignac who has been most heavily linked with Spurs, while Jackson’s future – at least for the rest of this season – appears to be at current club FC Porto.
But with each passing week the forward shows just why Tottenham were said to be interested in the player last season and again earlier this year.
The 28-year-old's two goals in a 3-0 win against Coimbra on Saturday means Jackson has now scored seven times in his last seven matches. He also took his tally for the season to 14 in just 18 appearances.
So yes, the player is linked to Tottenham with such regularity that their fans may be getting bored of the story. But when you consider how deadly he is in front of goal, they may well be hoping manager Mauricio Pochettino makes a move in due course.
