Ryan Mason reflects on Tottenham Hotspur’s draw with Crystal Palace

Ryan Mason picks out a positive from Tottenham Hotspur’s goalless draw with Crystal Palace in the Premier League.

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Ryan Mason has said that keeping a clean sheet against Crystal Palace on Saturday was “positive”.

Spurs headed into the Premier League clash at White Hart Lane as the favourites, but they had to settle for a goalless draw.

Although Tottenham had chances, their performance left much to be desired, especially when compared to last weekend’s display against Everton at home.

Mason, who started the match and played for 66 minutes before being replaced by Paulinho, has highlighted one positive from the match.

Tottenham defender Jan Vertonghen has also spoken of the significance of not conceding against Palace (click here to read more), but the negatives far outweigh the (only?) one positive.

Palace had chances and had four shots on target - Spurs had three - which means that goalkeeper Hugo Lloris was once again busy between the sticks.

The fact that Tottenham should have won this game cannot be ignored. As much as one can bang about Mauricio Pochettino’s side keeping a clean sheet, they failed to score and failed to win.

And winning games is what will see Tottenham achieve their ultimate objective: secure a top-four place in the Premier League.
