Manchester City took advantage of Chelsea's defeat at Newcastle with a 1-0 win over Everton - and here are the best images from the game...
Early on in the game, City's in form striker Sergio Aguero went down injured, and had to be taken off as a result. The Argentine was seen in tears as he left the pitch, and reports suggest he could be out for as long as six months - a huge blow for Manuel Pellegrini given how many goals he's scored lately.
Controversy struck around 15 minutes after Aguero's substitution, as James Milner went down inside the penalty area following a challenge from his England team mate Phil Jagielka, but Everton protested that Milner hadn't been touched and had dived - but the decision stood, much to Roberto Martinez's frustration.
Despite the protests, midfielder Yaya Toure stepped up to place the ball past Tim Howard into the bottom corner, with the Ivorian assuming penalty taking responsibilities in Aguero's absence.
Everton almost drew level in the second half though, with Romelu Lukaku's superb volley forcing a stunning save from Joe Hart. It was Everton's best chance of earning a point, but Hart's save was outstanding to keep the Toffees at bay.
After a game of ups and downs for City, there was a sense of relief at the final whistle, with Pellegrini's men eeking out a 1-0 win - meaning the pressure is back on Chelsea at the top of the Premier League table.
