Newcastle United defender Daryl Janmaat is looking forward to taking on Arsenal next weekend.
The Magpies returned to winning ways on Saturday when they got the better of Chelsea 2-1 at St. James’ Park in the Premier League.
It was the Blues’ first defeat of the Premier League campaign and has given the Newcastle players loads of confidence.
Winning at Arsenal will not be easy for Newcastle despite the Gunners’ 3-2 defeat to Stoke City at the Britannia Stadium on Saturday, but Janmaat is confident.
“It's going to be another tough game, but we have to do the same there," the 25-year-old right-back told Newcastle’s official website.
”It's going to be more difficult because we are playing away from home, that's normal. But we have to make sure we defend the same and we always have chances.
"It's given us confidence and now we have to improve and look to the next game, which is Arsenal."
Jack Colback echoed Janmaat’s thoughts and said: “Every game is tough in the Premier League.
“But we've shown real character to win six in a row and then, after losing at West Ham and drawing at Burnley, we've shown it again to come back and beat Chelsea.
"Arsenal are next up and that is going to be a tough game but we've got to go down there and show our character again.”
Newcastle have indeed shown “real character” over the last few weeks, first to win six competitive matches in a row and then to bounce back in style against Chelsea.
Arsenal themselves will be determined to pick up all three points at the Emirates Stadium next weekend to get their top-four challenge back on track, but writing off Newcastle would not be a wise idea.
