Fresh Balotelli, Gerrard and Odegaard developments for Liverpool

Steven Gerrard takes a question during a pregame press conference

Several reports surfaced last night surrounding Liverpool transfer news.

Steven Gerrard

According to the Sunday People, Manchester City will not be making an attempt to sign Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard.

The 34-year-old skipper is out of contract in the summer but the Reds are said to be confident that he will not join a direct Premier League rival should he leave the club.

But is it a concern that there is a possibility Gerrard could be leaving the club at all?

Mario Balotelli

Meanwhile, the same paper reports that Liverpool will sell misfiring striker Mario Balotelli in the summer.

The notion is consistent with reports in several media outlets on Friday night that Brendan Rodgers will keep faith with the Italian until the end of the season.

Beyond that, however, the Italian's days look numbered - if the Anfield outfit can find a buyer.

Interestingly, the Sunday Mail suggest the 24-year-old will be given one final chance on Merseyside.

Martin Odegaard

Finally, it's a hat-trick of Liverpool reports from the Sunday People, with the paper suggesting that 15-year-old wonderkid Martin Odegaard will snub interest from the Reds in favour of a move to Ajax.

Odegaard had trained at Melwood earlier this week, although Celtic boss Ronny Deila is also confident of bringing him to Scotland.

Another option for the Norwegian, however, is Ajax - an option the People say he will choose.
