Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are fierce North London rivals, but they both have the same objective: finish in the top four of the Premier League.
But things are not going according to plan. While the Gunners are down in sixth with 23 points, Tottenham are two points behind them in 10th.
There are problems for both teams, but there is one player in each side who cannot be blamed for any of them.
Alexis Sanchez has been head and shoulders above the rest of the Arsenal players, while Hugo Lloris is probably the only world-class footballer in the Tottenham team.
Signed from Barcelona in the summer transfer window for a reported fee of £35 million, Chile international forward Sanchez has carried Arsenal on his own in so many games this season.
The 25-year-old has scored nine goals and created 37 chances in 14 appearances in the Premier League, and three goals and seven chances in five matches in the Champions League.
Meanwhile, Lloris remains the only reliable member of a vulnerable Tottenham defence that was once again exposed by Crystal Palace at White Hart Lane on Saturday.
Sanchez and Lloris are genuine world-class players, but at the moment they are stuck in teams who simply cannot deliver consistently.
Perhaps Arsenal have better players than Tottenham, but they are simply not playing to the levels they should.
One wonders how Arsenal and Spurs would fare if they did not have Sanchez and Lloris respectively…
