United ask Patrice Evra to return; Frenchman considering it - report

Evra

Patrice Evra has been linked with a shock move back to Manchester United.

Patrice Evra has been linked with a shock move back to Manchester United just months after leaving Old Trafford for Juventus.

The French international was replaced at United by Luke Shaw, but reports in Italy claim the 33-year-old has been asked if he would like to help Louis van Gaal’s side.

The left-back’s time at Juventus has not gone according to plan with the player recently criticised for an underwhelming start to life in Turin.

Those United fans who remember Evra’s debut for the club against Manchester City will be all too aware that he can take time to settle but could a move back to England really be on the cards?

Given the presence of Shaw and Marcos Rojo in van Gaal’s squad it seems highly unlikely, but Football Italia has picked up on reports from La Gazzetta dello Sport that United have asked Evra if he wants to come back and the player is allegedly considering it.

The same report claims Juventus already have a replacement in mind, re-calling their loan player Paolo De Ceglie.
