Erik Lamela became the latest Tottenham Hotspur player to be the victim of Mauricio Pochettino's half-time substitution against Crystal Palace this weekend, but in truth the Argentine is often the player to either make way or to arrive so he is probably used to it by now.
Lamela had a game to forget against Palace, his passing accuracy just 76 per cent and nothing of real note apart from three dribbles.
The player who has already scored Tottenham's goal of the season did not have a single shot (on target or otherwise) and failed to set up any chances for his teammates, and given his ineffective showing it was no surprise when he was pulled at the interval.

Lamela is only 22 - something that is often forgotten when he is criticised - but at the same time he should be performing more consistently than he is currently.
After the match, we took to Twitter to see what Tottenham fans thought of his performance and below you can read a selection of what we found.
Palace are all over us. Lamela is so disappointing, do not understand why Poch plays him over Lennon— ☆ (@SherieAnnexo) December 6, 2014
Lamela has been very poor. Can't seem to beat a man without trying to stand him up first. Completely slows down any chance of counter. #THFC— Simon Frazer (@simonjfrazer) December 6, 2014
Poor half overall but decent flashes...when we've had the ball wide. Lamela is having a mare. Essentially forcing us to keep Lennon in Jan.— Merry Chiriches (@TomOfHayward) December 6, 2014
I'd take lamela off and not bring anyone on, he's THAT bad.— Chris Doughty (@ChrisDoughty32) December 6, 2014
Lamela has had about as bad a game as possible. Loses the ball constantly and not protecting Dier at all.— Socrates Pyliotis (@Socrates92) December 6, 2014
MP dropped lamela Sunday and it was the best we played all season. The game and a half he has played him in since we have been awful #thfc— Adam Blackman (@ajb_79) December 6, 2014
If Lamela appears for the second half here I'll be astonished. He is without doubt the most frustratingly awful footballer i have ever seen.— Ray Dervan (@daderv) December 6, 2014
Lamela will be at Inter Milan in Janaury. Today should be his last start for Spurs. Utterly woeful, wasteful and clueless— McLovin (@RealBristolSpur) December 6, 2014
