A select round-up of the latest news relating to Leeds United…

Leeds United take on Ipswich Town this weekend hoping to do to the Championship’s second-placed team what they did to the league leaders last weekend.

One week on from Leeds’ 2-0 victory against Derby County, Neil Redfearn’s side have the chance to lay down even more of a marker for the second half of the campaign, but away from Elland Road this will be a very tough proposition.

In early team news, the BBC reports that Ipswich loanee Noel Hunt is ineligible to play against his parent-club, while Jack Collison and Kevin Bru are unavailable for the hosts.

Leeds have no fresh injury concerns, with Rudy Austin, Billy Sharp and Michael Tonge all said to be in contention.

In other news, reported Leeds target Josip Ilicic has been hailed by his former club president at Palermo as the best player Fiorentina have.

The Slovenia international has been linked with a move to Elland Road for some time, and in an interview with Tuttosport later published by Sport Witness, Maurizio Zamparini said, “Ilicic is technically the best player that Fiorentina have.

“Ilicic is worth more than (Alessio) Cerci.”

When you consider the latter left Italy for Atletico Madrid in a £12million move that is quite a statement.
