Douglas Coutinho's agent has admitted that the best destination for his client would be Porto.
Even after the signing of Radamel Falcao this summer, it's little surprise to see Manchester United being linked with adding another striker in January.
Wayne Rooney, Robin van Persie and Falcao are all either 30 or approaching 30, and even with the emergence of James Wilson, manager Louis van Gaal needs to consider bringing in a young, pacier striker.
Trabzonspor striker Abdul Majeed Waris has been strongly touted as a target for the Red Devils, but Atletico Paranaense's Douglas Coutinho also appears to be on United's radar.
Coutinho, 20, has scored 19 goals in 64 games for the Brazilian club, and his agent recently confirmed that United were interested, whilst he said goodbye to Paranaense fans earlier this week.
It's virtually guaranteed that Coutinho will head to Europe in January, but whilst United appeared to be leading Atletico Madrid in the race for his signature, his agent Taciano Pimenta says that Porto would be the best destination for his client.
"Personally, I believe that would be the best. He would have an easier adaptation and we also believe that he could have more opportunities on the pitch," Pimenta said.
"But he has one more game [for Atletico] and then he ends his time [in Brazil]. Then we decide. Before Christmas, everything should be set so that he can start his new club in January. I will be in Europe from next week," he added.
Porto have long had a history of developing South American players, including Hulk, James Rodriguez, Falcao, Jackson Martinez, Alvaro Pereira, Lisandro Lopez and Anderson, which will make Porto an attractive proposition for Coutinho.
United still have a say in the race for Coutinho's signature, but the relatively seamless transition from Brazilian to Portuguese football and the greater chance of playing time will make Porto favourites.
