Chelsea star Cesc Fabregas said they would not emulate Arsenal 'Invincibles' in October

Chelsea have lost their first game of the Premier League season.

The dream of the Chelsea Invincibles is gone, as Chelsea were defeated at Newcastle United once again. St James Park has proven to be something of a bogey ground for Jose Mourinho in the Premier League and today proved no different.

Two goals from Papiss Cisse were enough for a win despite a late red card for Steven Taylor and goal from Didier Drogba.

The hope among many was that Chelsea, considering their early dominance in the Premier League, could emulate Arsenal from 2003 and go the entire season undefeated.

But they looked jaded and sluggish today, defeat was deserved.

For one man it is not a surprise, not that he will be bothered. Because Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas was part of that Arsenal Invincibles side.

And he said earlier in the season after defeating Crystal Palace:

“No, no, this is a joke. This is a joke. There will only be one team who can do that - the Arsenal ‘Invincibles’ team of 2003.

"I was part of it a little bit at the end and it was a different class team.

"I don't think we are there yet, but we're building up a young, talented, solid team and hopefully we can get into the final part of the season with options for winning everything."

So the former Arsenal captain was indeed right, much to the delight of fans of his former team.
