Bruce comments on Ben Arfa situation - is he heading back to Newcastle?

Reports had suggested the Hull City loanee could return to the Magpies early.

Will he or won't he?

If Hatem Ben Arfa's recent travails at Newcastle United were bad, it seems he has taken it to a new level with his bust-up with Hull boss Steve Bruce.

Although it must be stressed that that is a reported bust-up - one that Bruce has now denied.

Reports on Friday night suggested Ben Arfa has infuriated the Hull boss to such an extent that he will be sent back to Newcastle immediately.

Bruce says differently, however, although he has not denied the fact that Ben Arfa could still return to Newcastle early, saying he will sit down with the Frenchman to see where things are.

"There's no bust-up - of course he's not happy about being taken off but he's got to be treated like everyone else and win his spurs back by trying hard and getting back in the team," Bruce told reporters.

"There is no disputing he has got ability but ability is not enough at this level so he will be treated like everyone else. We will see what December and January brings and I will sit down with him and see where we are."
