Brand new Legend of Zelda footage on Wii U signals greatness

The Legend of Zelda Game Awards screen 1

New footage of Nintendo's next Zelda adventure has been revealed showing off some of the world's scale and even Epona.

The Game Awards were on in Las Vegas last night, or this morning if you watched them on this side of the pond like I did. The big reveal at the end of the show was Nintendo related, the new Legend of Zelda game, to be precise.

The footage shown during the event was of Legend of Zelda creator Shigeru Miyamoto and director Eiji Aonuma sat playing the new game.

They showed off some of the game's open world setting, and it looks huge. Unfortunately you only get to watch the game being played off of a screen, but still, what you can see looks impressive.

Epona, Link's trusty steed, is back. And this time she's smarter than ever - when riding her around the world she'll avoid trees on her own, and when you leap off of her back you can aim your arrows in slo-mo.

The new Star Fox game for Wii U is also mentioned by Miyamoto - he says it will be released next year after Majora's Mask 3D comes out in the spring, and before the new Zelda Wii U later in the year.

Take a look at the footage below.
