West Ham United midfielder Stewart Downing has explained why he and his teammates are confident of a successful run during the festive period.
The Hammers will take on Swansea City in the Premier League on Sunday, and will then face Sunderland (A), Leicester City (H), Chelsea (A) and Arsenal (H) this month.
The London outfit are currently fighting for a place in the top five and book a place in Europe next season, and the month of December will be crucial.
Downing, a former Aston Villa and Liverpool player, is confident that West Ham will get positive results because of their large squad.
“After Sunday, the games keep coming thick and fast as we have five games in 19 days over the Christmas period,” he wrote on the club’s official website.
“It’s a difficult time coming up, as you'll remember last year we suffered from a lot injuries and suspensions. This season however, we have a bigger squad and a good strength in depth which will really help us out.”
West Ham are currently fifth in the Premier League table with 24 points from 14 matches, just a point behind fourth-placed Manchester United.
