Real Madrid are hoping to tie up a deal to sign 15-year-old wonderkid Martin Odegaard within 10 days, reports claim.
The Norwegian superstar has hit the headlines in recent months following a string of fabulous displays for local side Stromsgodset in the Norwegian top division.
Odegaard's current ability andpotential has attracted interest from a number of top European clubs, no more so than Liverpool who currently host the player on a tour of the club.
The Reds are said to be extremely interested in signing him on a long-term contract and in a recent interview with German paper Bild, Odegaard revealed the Anfield outfit to be his dream club.
According to the Spanish paper Marca, the failure to land Neymar in recent years has prompted the club to make their move early as they hope to sign Odegaard within 10 days.
“Neymar ended up at Barca despite the preliminary contract signed with the entity Madrid in the summer of 2011. Now they do not want history to repeat itself and the interest in Odegaard is total,” the report states.
It continues: “His latest tour has taken him to Liverpool, a trip that includes dinner with Coutinho, though it seems to have been personal one - at least that is what is being said at the Santiago Bernabeu where they hope to announce the signing of Norwegian international within the next 10 days.
Since making his professional debut as a footballer, Odegaard has gone on to notch five goals in 25 league appearances as well as winning three international caps with Norway.
A host of other names including Manchester United, Chelsea and Bayern Munich are also said to be interested, but it appears now to be a straight race between Liverpool and Madrid for his signature.
