The midfielder injured himself on the opening day of the season against Swansea City.
For the past two pre-seasons Manchester United youngster Jesse Lingard has impressed. Before the start of last season he bagged four in four games and had impressed on loan spells at Birmingham City and Brighton in recent times.
With that in mind Louis van Gaal was ready to throw him into action for the club from the start this season. In fact, that is exactly what he did. Lingard was handed his Manchester United debut during the opening game of the season against Swansea City.
United of course lost that game but Lingard was not on the pitch at the final whistle. His game ended prematurely when he went off injured in the 24th minute of his wing-back display.
He was soon snapped leaving hospital, leg in brace and on crutches. He suffered a serious knee injury in the challenge and has barely been seen since. But now, after nearly four months out of action, he has been snapped back in United training.
Of course he will still be some way off of a return to first-team action at United. But the fact he is on the verge will certainly be another boost for United and Van Gaal, as the crocked men continue to return to action.
